Yes, coaches are doing senior days prior to the start of conference games...they don't want the players to be distracted on game day prior to an important conference game.
In the case of my daughter, they do it 2 hours prior to game time.
Don't get me started on how ridiculous this is. First, if the players can't control their emotions well enough to get over a 10 minute senior day recognition, they shouldn't be playing DI sports.
Second, coaches don't take in account that the recognition is for the athletes and doing it well before the season comes to an end or so early before the start of a game that no one is there, doesn't make senior day special for the athletes.
Whatever it is, I think they are missing the point. _________________ www.DavidsonPhotos.com

How silly, I agree. I hadn't been aware of this new trend. _________________ "that big jug headed gent can't deal with brooks down low" - Gerdy from Thirty |

Whew! I've had schedule conflicts and haven't made it to a soccer game, men or women, this season. When I saw "senior night," I was afraid I had missed the whole season already.
If I had thought, I would have recalled the cold, drizzly nights when I was sitting during overtimes wishing that someone would go ahead and score, and becoming less particular as to which side. We don't have cold, drizzly nights in early September in the Piedmont.
It would make about as much sense to do away with senior night and have sophomore night instead. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

Particularly unwise for a team that won't win often in conference play. I always try to make it to Senior Day/Night to honor players who've completed four seasons of competition. I still will, but I'll bet that this move will reduce attendance for that final home game. I doubt that our basketball teams will follow this trend. Woulda worked for Jordan Watkins, though. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. He could have played 'name that score' if he so desired."---St Joe's fan |
