As long as we are pining after local kids that UNC is chasing, how about Wendell Moore '19 at Cox Mill. Sounds like a good kid, and I think he's a good student (Harvard has been in to see him). Plus, as a sophomore, he's averaging 25 points and 9 boards.

Bob in the huddle during timeout: "Don't listen to BDL!"
Matt: "Coach, that's BDF."
Bob: "What?! There's two of them!?"
Matt: "Coach, that's BDF."

He definitely is not a hidden talent and I suspect we don't spend much time on kids getting that much P5 attention. But reach must exceed grasp.catnhat wrote:According to Verbal Commits he already has 8 P5 offers. He must be on everybody's radar.

Article lists Kellan Grady as one of eight guards who could come in and do big things as freshmen.

And it looks like Carter Collins's high school career is over. He had a game-high 24 points in a state playoff loss to Cardinal Gibbons (lost on a free throw with four seconds to go).Best asset: With good size and passing ability, Kellan Grady is a solid new-age floor general who can see over smaller guards. A good leader who gets others shots while running an offense, Grady can also get his own offense going since he's used to playing without the ball.
Freshman-year outlook: Finding players who can handle the ball and make plays for others is a huge key, and Davidson appears to have scored a major coup with Grady. Jack Gibbs has been an important player in the Davidson program, and he is moving on after this season, so it will be important for the Wildcats to find their next floor leader.

Bates Jones and Carter Collins were in the house last night. Also, other 2016 possible folks. 8)WildCock wrote:I'm pretty sure our recruiting for 2016 is closed.BDL wrote:Two questions: are we still recruting for 2016 (aka getting another big) and do y'all think KP or Frampton will start at the 3? I also spoke to an ex player(City cat will know), referring to him as "Henry Ford's finest." Spoke to Mike Maloy''s sister too.
Offensively we have little to no difference bw 2 and 3. For example, the wings run to the corners on the secondary break- it doesn't matter who runs to what corner. This just leaves defensivive assignments which are based on the matchup. I expect a competition bw JAG, KP, Frampton, and Grady to start (for 3 spots). My hope is that Collins is offended that by statement- Rusty and Jwat too. Anyone who shoots .37 or better from 3 plays a ton. Simple but most likely true. I've watched some Grady tape, some Frampton, but no Collins (if anyone has game tape, please post it). Of all that, what stands out most is Grady's passing. Makes the right pass nearly every possession, which stands in stark contrast to some of the decisions made last night. Some frustrating turnovers. Grady has struggled (relative to last year) from 3. If he shoots it too, he starts imo, but I wouldn't pen in anyone at the guard spot Just yet.. This year is the Europe trip. Things will become more clear, then.BDL wrote:Two questions: are we still recruting for 2016 (aka getting another big) and do y'all think KP or Frampton will start at the 3? I also heard we are pursuing a 4th scholarship.
Sorry, that was me being literal. I took BDL's reference to"recruting for 2016" to mean recruiting for the [2015-]2016 season, and thus that the date was a typo, resulting in an impossibility. My remark was intended to be a gentle, humorous jibe (hence the wink emoji) in response to that perceived typo. (FWIW, I would describe any players we were now recruiting who would be freshmen in 2017-18 as "recruiting for 2017." )wildforthecats wrote:Bates Jones and Carter Collins were in the house last night. If any players we are currently recruiting for next year happen to see my post, I absolutely DID NOT mean to suggest that we no longer had any interest in recruiting you.
Mea culpa.
Edited to correct my own misuse of dates.
