Steph is a much better shooter than Lin. Lin is far more athletic. Lin plays more like Allen Iverson, World B. Free, and Montah Ellis. He plays a wee bit smarter and more effectively than the listed comparable guards, at least so far.

Part of the reason Lin may not have been drafted was his college shooting percentages, which were much lower than Steph's.

Lin's stats in college understate his offensive potential. Harvard cut him loose against UConn and BC because that was the only chance they had in those games. Otherwise, he was kept under wraps while at Harvard.

In the late '70s, there was a joke, "Who is the only man who can hold Walter Davis to 16 points per game?" Answer: "Dean Smith."

Maybe they can ask the same question with Lin , but answer will be "Tommy Amaker."

Lin was not recruited by Amaker. He was already at Harvard when Tommy arrived.

Davidson is the one school which can get a pass for not recruiting Lin. When he was a frosh in '06-'07, Richards was a rising junior, Curry and Barr were freshmen, and Brendan was in the pipeline.

No comments like, "Could he have gotten in?", please.

Lin may indeed be the more athletic of the two, though Steph certainly seems much the more fluid in shooting, dribbling, and driving. Great story for both. Lin's rise has been meteoric--and fun to watch. Once NBA defenders take him seriously--any game now--the difference between the two, and Steph's superior skill set, will be evident.

Sunday 1:00 on CBS (maybe ABC whichever one has the NBA) against the Mavs. A lot of folks will be tuned in. Let's see how he does.

Curry didn't exactly light it up last night either with 4 turnovers in about 28 minutes (not as bad in that statistic as Lin) and a poor shooting night (I don't think they'll be showing highlights of Lin's shooting either).

Well, I'll say this: Lin's early career turnover troubles remind me of a skinny-looking kid from Charlotte who played way too fast in his first college game, literally throwing the ball everywhere. That kid figured it all out within a few weeks...
