Dalton Knect went Ernie Graham tonight

Dalton Knect took over the game vs Auburn tonight in scoring 39. Vols game him the ball and got out of the way. Tigers were so frustrated trying to stop him they ended up triple teaming him at times. He might get the Wooden.

He reminded me of Ernie Graham for Maryland in Jan 1979 against the #1 ranked Notre Dame team with Digger Phelps and a slew of future NBA stars like Tripuka, Woolridge and Laimbeer. That day, Lefty gave the ball to Graham (not Albert King), Terps got out of the way and Graham just went one on one over and over and over. It was a stunning performance and the Terps won 67-66 in the final second of the game. Anyone remember that one?

Similar performance was some dude from Coastal Carolina who upset Bobby Knight and Indiana in the first round of the NCAA one year. Dude just couldn't miss no matter how deep he shot it and how Indiana defenders were draped all over him.

Saw Johnny Neumann do it against Vandy. He was pistol pete-ish that night on the way to averaging over 40 a game with no three point line. Unstoppable shooter. He was 6-6. Knect and Graham 6-7.

Not sure who you are thinking about from Coastal, but I know Coastal is winless in the Dance.

Coastal Carolina played a great game against Indiana in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 1991. Indiana won 79-69, but the game was closer than the final score.

Brian Penny of Coastal had a great game, shooting 13-15 from the field. Coastal won the Big South Tournament. Davidson was in the Big South that year. Russ Bergman was their coach. A year or two later, he confessed to many NCAA violations and left Coastal. He played at LSU when Maravich was there.

Richmond upset Syracuse in that tournament in a 2 versus 15 game.

I used to think Indiana was upset in that tournament, too.

Davidson almost upset the Chanticleers in the second round of the Big South Tournament. Coastal prevailed 58-55. I recognized Russ Bergman when the Cats played in the Myrtle Beach tournament two years ago. We chatted about the 1991 Davidson game for a few minutes.

Alyssa Cossey on Sunday evening directed a combined chorus of members of the Davidson Chorale and Choral Arts Society, and the church choirs of DCPC, DUMC, and St. Alban’s. She is on the music faculty at Coastal Carolina. Singers included some of Davidson’s most ardent basketball fans and at least one former player.

As I recall, Graham would hit a shot, and Jo Jo Hunter would say "we're hot!" and start jackin' 'em up

Earlier in ‘78-‘79, Maryland edged State 124-110. I believe Ernest Graham and Larry Gibson were the stars for Maryland

Maryland point guard Dutch Morley was recruited by Davidson.

I let out a yell when Dalton Knecht took it the hole and finished with a propulsive thrust. This was after he drained two or three 3 point shots
It was scintillating and super-sensational (shout out to Dickie V.)

Knecht was an under-the-radar UNC transfer.

Aren't all transfers from University of Northern Colorado kinda under the radar?

I can remember Ernie Graham and Lawrence "Boogie" Boston being Holly Farms Players of the game at one time or another for Lefty's Terps.
