DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Davidson College is suspended for five years after the chapter admitted that it engaged in hazing of new members during the spring 2023 semester, Davidson officials confirmed.

According to a statement from a Davidson College spokesperson, the fraternity appealed an outcome handed down by the college's accountability process. The appeals process confirmed the earlier findings and concluded at the end of the most recent fall semester.
"seven years of college down the drain"

The college will make adjustments. It would be absurd not to, and a dereliction of duty to the student-athletes.
I for one, hope the college does not make any adjustments at this point. The NIL/Portal crisis needs to be given some time to see how it works out. It is already becoming a disaster at the Power 5 level.

I also do not think our current teams has been hurt by it as of yet. If Sam is still on the roster, Skogman is healthy, and Brizzi was shooting 35%+ from the 3 we would probably be near the top of the league. None of those events were caused because of NIL.

Matt and staff have to improve as well. I would probably rank them about a C right now.

Look I hate this as much as the next Wildcat but if we had given Des 50k and Sam 100k and maybe bought a shooter for another 100 we’ve got a completely different situation. NIL is important now. I pulled the numbers out my butt, however the point is still the same.

I’ve never before seen a suggestion that Des left because of NIL. I have heard it suggested that there was a mutual feeling of satisfaction when he left.

No idea why he left, maybe money wouldn’t have kept him. Maybe we didn’t want him. The point is money can buy talent. That’s the world we live in now. If we had bought 3 players with our current group we’d be at the top of the A10. I know this is awful but here we are.

Agree. The IRS also needs to rule on this. Mark my word, there will be a form over substance case soon over collectives.

Thanks, WFTC, for that great song that I have not heard in many years. Thanks also, for helping me to remove from my brain the image of Captain America pulling that cash out of his caboodle (or whereever it is that he said he was storing it).
