We had Loyer, MJ, and Lee. Then we had Grant, Kochera in a down year, and Des. Then we had Grant, a better Kochera, and Brizzi in an unexpectedly poor shooting season. The biggest difference was the outside shooting abilities of the players. Durkin is a good shooter, but he was the only one other D’s really needed to fear. He’ll be better if others step up as threats.

The coaches just recruited (and ultimately missed out on) a guard transfer who made 8 threes (on 29 attempts, so 27.6%) in 578 minutes across two seasons of college basketball. Do we believe that would have helped?

That looks like Dasonte Bowen's stats. Yes, he would have helped. 4-star recruit out of high school. Starter for a Big10 team. Smart lead guard who sets him teammates up. And wouldn't it be nice if our guys who can't shoot only attempted one every 19 minutes? I'll bet any amount (a nickel) that Dasonte Bowen is a big factor in the Bonnies success next season.

Huffman (another sub-30% three-point shooter for his career, but better than 27.6%) took a three every 16.4 minutes.

That's good. People who can't shoot shouldn't shoot often.

What was the team’s record with a PG who couldn’t shoot but at least didn’t shoot a lot?

Not very good. And against an awful schedule. Shooters would be nice. If we can't sign them, we'll have to alter our offense. Bobby is a shooter. Defenses know it.

Strength of schedule was ranked 100 out of 362 teams. Maryland, Clemson and St Mary’s was a great start to the season.

Hooray for the A10. NCSOS was 162 and the home OOC schedule was really weak.

Our best home OOC opponent was Wright State (Massey 181). Our others were 293, 290, 237, 303. W&L and Lynchburg don't count, but their Massey numbers were 699 and 1040. No wonder there are seats available. That is a putrid home schedule.

We finished last season 302nd in 3-pt shooting. I hear folks claim that we'll be better this year. How much better? We could pass over 100 teams and still be in the bottom half. Without a change in our system, I'm not sure we can improve much on shooting without an upgrade in speed. We need really open looks.

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed listening to the interview with coach McKillop.

The comment he made about "the best defense we have had in 20 years", was interesting. I would like to know if this statement was based on more than one metric. If it was based solely on points per game allowed, I would challenge it since pace of play has slowed for the Cats. It will, as always, be fun to see how the players have developed since last season. Go Cats!
