I must admit that the only year in the 21st Century when I had lower expectations of a Davidson basketball team was 2006-2007, after 4 of the 5 starters from the 2006 NCAA team graduated, and we had something like 26 ppg returning.
I believe there were many other years where things were unknown. 2014-2015 comes to mind, our first season in the A10.

I always want to believe that my pint glass of Brickhouse Red is half-full.

...Many folks on here seemed to think last year’s results were “good” or at least “not bad.”
Hmm. Losing home record against a really weak schedule. We were good enough that teams, even tough ones, had to dig deep to beat the Wildcats. And we had some good results. That win over San Francisco was sweet. But it didn't make up for getting destroyed by CofC. I think we'll be better this year.
Underscores the inconsistency that often plagues the program not just last year's squad. It seems like every season we beat a team we probably shouldn't have while losing to some outclassed underdog. It won't surprise me a whit if we sneak a win in Asheville and lose by 20 to LaSalle.

16-16 is not bad. Bad was 1974-1981 when the Cats were 7-80 in road games.

Yay, the early years of my fanhood! We were awful. A train wreck. And those were some of my favorite Wildcat teams. Enduring that made Born's Miracle all the sweeter.

Man alive, what a bunch of Debbie Downers.
The team has performed about as well (“poorly” for you glass-is-half-empty types) as the Debbie Downers expected (or “feared”).
